NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Wagner is set to round out its season at the 2026 NEC Outdoor Championship, wrapping up the team's first season under head coach Marvin Azor.
Outdoor season has been a steady build towards the championships, with the Rutgers Relays, Rider Invitational and Penn Relays in the month of April priming the Seahawks for the team scoring effort required at the conference championship.
The team most recently finished third at the NEC Indoor Championship, scoring 79 team points and taking home seven medals.
2026 in Review
Sophomore Christine Manneh stepped up in a big way for the Seahawks this season, winning gold in the 200m at the NEC Indoor Championship and earning a share of the Most Valuable Performer award of the meet's sprinters. Wagner added 31 points from sprint events at the conference championship for indoor season and will need to product similar scoring this weekend.
Senior Angela Cavalieri and freshman Olivia Roldan Casado will represent Wagner in the 3,000m steeplechase, an event that Wagner won last season. Junior Rylee Ferretti looks to close out a big year where she won the individual title at the 2026 NEC Championships in cross country, then went on to take bronze for indoor season in the 5,000m run.
In the mid-distance events, junior Magui Calvo-Jorge has been a steady presence in her third year on Grymes Hill, winning bronze in the 800m and distance medley relay for indoor season. She will compete in the 800m and be an option for the Seahawks in the relays this weekend.
Sophomore Mia Petersen returns after a strong freshman campaign, entering the meet after most recently winning long jump at the Rider Invitational with a personal-best 5.69m mark.
The 2025 Championships
The women's team won their first ever NEC Outdoor Championship in 2025, scoring 167 team points to secure the win. That team featured a dominant performance from senior Ruth-Ann Chambers and the Seahawks will have to disperse their scoring similar to how they did in the NEC Indoor Championships to make up for the massive contributions she made.
On the distance side, Rylee Ferretti returns after winning the 10,000m run in 2025, also taking silver in the 5,000m run and earning Most Outstanding Track Performer of the meet's distance runners. Wagner returns Angelina Olah and Magui Calvo-Jorge from its 4x800 relay team in 2025, a group that won gold with a meet-record 9:05.91 time.
Three of four return from Wagner's silver-medal 4x100 relay team.
