STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — In the team's second and final time hosting for the 2025-2026 indoor season, Wagner's women competed in the Wagner College Invitational on Saturday.
Continuing a streak of success in her senior season, Saranda Capani logged a 3.20m clearance in pole vault to win the event. Sophomore Nicalina Siracusa finished fourth behind Capani with a 2.66m clearance.
Junior Rylee Ferretti ran a 17:13.32 time in the 5,000m run for her first event of the season, finishing second behind LIU's Hasnae Goulamzi. Sophomore Christine Manneh logged a 7.68 60m dash time in the finals to finish second after winning her preliminary heat with a 7.71-second time.
Junior June Fernandez took second in the 400m dash, running a 58.80 time as the fastest collegiate time in the event. Sophomore Jasmine Burney finished 11th, logging a 1:01.99 time. Freshman Cristina Abadia Arquillue made her collegiate debut in the event with a 1:02.44 finish.
Sophomore Mia Petersen logged an 11.20m triple jump to finish fourth. Sophomore Madison Maxwell posted a 9.97m triple jump. Petersen also finished fourth in long jump with a 5.24m performance. Junior Victoria Gontowicz competed in long jump alongside Petersen, posting a 4.49m jump.
Freshman Nina Watts finished eighth in the 60m hurdles final with a 9.31 time after running a 9.23 as the sixth-fastest preliminary time. Sophomore Ariel Kovach logged a 10.15 time.
Senior Angelina Olah finished seventh in the 500m, logging a 1:18.88 time. Fellow senior Angel Okafor was just behind, running a 1:20.42 time to finish ninth. Junior Victoria Ann Dziubela ran a 2:20.90 800m time to finish fourth as the lone representative for the Seahawks in the race.
In the other field events, freshman Rikayla Bingham finished sixth in high jump with a 1.48m performance. Kovach, in her second event of the day, logged a 1.43m clearance. Over in the cages, junior Dayana Rodriguez logged a 13.37m weight throw to finish eighth in her first meet of the season.
In the mile, junior Magui Calvo-Jorge ran a 5:10.58 time to finish fifth. Just behind was graduate Ana Blanco Duran with a 5:14.95 time in seventh. Freshmen Rehanna Syed (5:32.59) and Jaslene Merizalde (5:54.17) rounded out Wagner's runners in the event. Representing Wagner in the 4x400 relay, Blanco Duran, Olah, Calvo-Jorge and Okafor logged a 4:05.99 time to finish third.
Next up, the Seahawks have their first road trip of the 2025-2026 season. The team heads to the Dr. Sander Scorcher, beginning Friday, Jan. 23 at The Armory and wrapping up on Saturday, Jan. 24.
