Bridgewater, NJ — Wagner College's women's cross country team has been picked to finish second in the Northeast Conference's preseason poll, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Wagner received two first-place votes and tied with Stonehill for second place. CCSU has been picked to win the conference. The team rounded out the 2024 season with a third-place finish at the NEC Championship with a 62-point team total, landing behind CCSU and Saint Francis U.
This will be the first season under head coach Marvin Azor, a former assistant with the track and field programs who takes over the helm after the departure of longtime head coach Joe Stasi.
At last year's conference championship, junior Laura Trenado, sophomore Rylee Ferretti and senior Gia Comerford were named to the All-NEC team, while freshman Kate Connolly earned a nod on the All-Rookie team.
The team begins their season at Steven Institute of Technology's Back to the Bowl meet on Saturday, September 2 at Holmdel Park.
