BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Freshman Jaslene Merizalde has been named to the NEC All-Rookie team for the 2025 cross country season, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Merizalde made her collegiate debut with a 21:32.30 5K at the Back to the Bowl meet on September 6, hosted by the Stevens Institute of Technology at Holmdel Park. Merizalde finished ninth of 74 runners, part of Wagner's first-place team.
At the Ted Owen Invite on September 20, Merizalde ran a 20:29.50 5K, helping Wagner on the way to fifth place as a team. Running a 6K at Lehigh's Paul Short Run, Merizalde logged a 24:37.80 finish.
Merizalde ran a 24:36.0 6K at the IC4A/ECAC Cross Country Championship before rounding out her season with a 25:07.00 time in the 6K at the NEC Cross Country Championship in Tyrone, Pennsylvania.
Merizalde will compete with the Seahawks for track & field season, with the next meet coming December 12 at the Seahawk Shootout, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
