Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team fell to St. John's, 9-0, on Wednesday, April 2.
Both teams remained scoreless in the first inning, but St. John's broke through in the second, plating their first run. The Red Storm built on that momentum and added to their lead throughout the game, ultimately scoring nine runs by the end of the sixth inning. The Seahawks struggled to slow the pace and couldn't generate any offensive momentum of their own.
Sophomore Karson Zavala started in the circle for Wagner, pitching four innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out four batters. Junior Natalie Rodriguez came in relief, pitching two innings and surrendering four hits and four runs.
The Green & White will look to bounce back as they host Le Moyne for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 5, with the first game set to begin at 1 p.m.
