Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College softball team secured a 1-0 victory over NEC foe Le Moyne Saturday morning.
Due to weather conditions, the game two has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 6th at 12pm and 2pm
The game began with both teams unable to score, as strong defense was on display from both sides. In the bottom of the third inning, the Seahawks broke the deadlock. Sophomore
Brityn Buchanan executed a sacrifice fly to center field, driving in Leilani Gonzales to give Wagner a 1-0 lead. The Dolphins made a push to respond, but the Seahawks' defense held firm, and they ultimately secured the victory in game one.
Sophomore Karson Zavala was stellar in the circle, pitching a complete game and allowing seven hits but no runs. She also walked two batters and struck out six.
Next up, the Seahawks and Dolphins will face off again for a doubleheader set for 12pm and 2pm on Sunday, April 6th.
