Staten Island, NY — Staten Island native and Wagner baseball alum David Melfi has re-signed with the Staten Island Ferryhawks.
Melfi spent time with the Ferryhawks and the Lancaster Stormers during the 2024 Atlantic League season.
Through the 2024 season, Melfi appeared in 38 games with 15 hits, 14 runs and 15 RBIs. He batted for a .142 average and worked 11 walks for a .250 OBP.
He wrapped up his senior year with Wagner having been named to the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Watch List four times. In his final season as a Seahawks, he batted .210 with 45 games started and four home runs.
Melfi's prestigious career goes back to his high school career at Jackson Liberty, where he started on varsity all four years and left holding records for hits, home runs, RBIs, doubles and runs scored.
The Ferryhawks begin their season on Friday, April 25 with a 6:30 p.m. game on the road against the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars.
