Women's Basketball Welcomes FDU On Saturday

 The Wagner Seahawks will welcome FDU to the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday, February 8 at 4 PM.

The Series

This matchup marks the 48th meeting all-time between the squads. FDU leads the all-time series 32-17. In their matchup earlier in the year, the Knights defeated the Seahawks 75-49 in Hackensack, NJ.

Scouting the Knights.

The Knights, who were picked as the NEC Preseason favorites, are 18-3 overall and 8-0 in NEC play. FDU is currently on an 11-game winning streak with their last loss coming from Rutgers on December 11, 2024. The Knights are coming off a 61-52 road win at CCSU on Thursday, February 6. 

Freshman guard Ava Renninger leads the team in scoring (14.2). Renninger is averaging 16.8 points over her last six games. Graduate student Tenesia Brown leads the team in rebounds (9.0) and is second in points (13.0)

The Knights lead the NEC in scoring (66.3) and scoring defense (57.6). 57.6 is almost 10 points less than the second best team, CCSU (66.4)

Working Overtime

The Seahawks are coming off their first overtime battle of the season lst game. Wagner lost to LIU in triple overtime, 80-79, on Thursday, February 6.

Before that, the Green & White's last overtime game was on March 5, 2021 where Wagner defeated Mount St. Mary's, 73-69 in double overtime.

Fabozzi Is On Fire


Julia Fabozzi scored a career-high 40 points last game against LIU on 14-of-20 shooting and 11-of-13 from the charity stripe. Fabozzi also grabbed eight rebounds and blocked two shots. 40 points is the most this season by any player in the NEC. 40 points is also the eighth most in college basketball this season and tied for sixth all-time in Wagner history. Earlier this season, the Staten Island, NY native scored 38 points against Old Westbury on December 30.  The graduate student ranks second in the NEC in points per game (16.2). Fabozzi returns after playing seven games last season after missing most of the year with a knee injury.

Welcome Back Taleah

After missing the first 10 games of the season, Taleah Washington made her season debut on December 21 against Columbia. Last game against Old Westbury, Washington set a new program record with a career-high 22 assists. She passed Alice Burgos' 1989 record of 16 assists. 22 assists is the second most all-time in NCAAW history.


The Emergence Of Keana Foz 

Keana Foz has started every game this season for the Green & White. Foz holds the top spot in the NEC in steals per game (2.4). Along with being first in the conference in steals, Foz ranks 14th in assists per game (2.1).

Earlier this season, Foz was named the NEC's Rookie of the Week. In two games, she averaged 12 points per game, 3.5 assists and 3 rebounds. Foz was also named to the 2024 FIU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team.

Seahawks Amongst The NEC

Wagner ranks first in the NEC blocks per game (3.19) and sits ninth in the conference in NEC record.
