Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team suffered a 16-7 loss to the Monmouth Hawks on Hameline Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The Seahawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals by junior Max Frissora and senior Ethan Sieb. Frissora and Sieb scored their goals within the first two minutes of the contest.
After three consecutive scores by Monmouth, junior Nico Kross notched his first score of the 2025 season during the final ticks of the opening frame to tie the game, 3-3.
In the second, sophomore Danny McMahon powered his way to his third goal of the year to take a 4-3 lead with 9:21 to play in the quarter.
The Hawks would go on a 3-0 run to lead 6-4 at half time over the Seahawks.
In the second half, Freshman Benjamin McDonnell scored his fourth goal of the year off of an assist from junior Jake Mitchell to make it a two-score game with 10 minutes to play in the third.
Monmouth would go on to score two more goals in the frame to lead 8-5 heading into the final quarter of play.
Juniors Smith Callaghan and Jake Mitchell each added a goal in the fourth quarter. For Callaghan, his shot went in the lower left corner for his first of the season while Mitchell tallied his fifth of the year for a team-high eight points to lead the Seahawks' roster.
Seven separate Seahawks scored with Mitchell leading the charge with two points on the day with one goal and one assist.
Sophomore Angus Snow recorded 13 saves. Snow has recorded 48 saves during his first year on Grymes Hill.
Next up, Wagner will travel to Fairfield, CT for a matchup with the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Saturday, March 1. Opening face-off is scheduled for noon.
