Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team fell to the Manhattan Jaspers by a score of 14-3 on a sun-splashed Hameline Field to open its 2025 season on Saturday.
The first goal of the Seahawks 2025 campaign came courtesy of junior Max Frissora who received a pass from sophomore Danny McMahon late in the first quarter.
At the half, Manhattan led with a score of 11-1.
McMahon would find the back of the net with under two minutes left in the third quarter.
The Green & White's leading returning scorer junior Jake Mitchell earned an unassisted goal midway through the final quarter of play.
In goal, sophomore transfer Angus Snow played all 60 minutes in net for the Seahawks, saving seven shots on the day.
Senior Daniel Mercado won 14 out of 20 of his faceoff attempts while collecting a team-high five ground balls.Mercado's 14 faceoff wins outpaced that of Manhattan's who grabbed seven faceoff wins as a team.
Wagner tracked down 30 ground balls to Manhattan's 24.
In the end, the Jaspers would revail by a score of 14-3.
Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Hofstra for their first road contest of the 2025 season against the Pride. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm in Hempstead, NY.
