STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Seahawks competed for the first time under new head coach Marvin Azor on Friday, logging strong performances at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational.
The women were led by junior June Fernandez, with a pair of top-ten finishes. She finished fifth in the 500m with a 1:18.01 time, also running a 25.83 200m to finish ninth. Sophomore Christine Manneh finished sixth in the 60m with a 7.71-second time, also running a 44.09 300m.
Sophomore Magui Calvo finished third in the 1,000m, joined by senior Ana Blanco Duran in fifth and senior Angel Okafor in 11th. In the 3,000m, junior Victoria Ann Dziubela led the way with a fifth-place finish, followed by senior Angela Cavalieri in sixth.
In the field events, freshman Rikayla Bingham finished fourth in high jump for her collegiate debut, clearing 1.57m. Sophomore Ariel Kovach finished sixth with a 1.42m clearance. In pole vault, sophomore Nicolina Siracusa took fourth place with a 2.61m mark.
Wagner took third, fourth, sixth and tenth in triple jump, with junior Victoria Gontowicz finishing third with an 11.28m performance, followed by Mia Petersen with the same mark, senior Jovana Miloradovic with an 11.23m jump and sophomore Madison Maxwell rounding out the Seahawks' contingent with a 9.88m mark.
Next up, Wagner will host the Seahawk Shootout on Friday, Dec. 12 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
