Fencing Concludes Sunday Visit at LIU Shark Showdown

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Wagner fencing teams wrapped up their duels in the LIU Shark Showdown on Sunday. Both the men's and women's teams finished the day winless.

Despite not picking up any team victories, certain individual fencers had good performances. Junior Flavio Vinci led both teams with six bout victories on the day, including all three sabre points against NYU. Junior Isaac Oden also picked up three wins throughout the meet.

On the women's side, the shorthanded epee squad put up a noble effort. Freshman Ashley Pullara and sophomore Maria Lopez Meneses combined for five wins between them as the only two epee fencers that day.

The final results are shown below.

Men:
- L vs. Yale 8-19 (3-6 sabre, 2-7 foil, 3-6 epee)
- L vs. NYU 8-19 (3-6, 2-7, 3-6)
- L vs. St. John's 6-21 (2-7, 2-7, 2-7)

Women:
- L vs. Yale 2-25 (0-9, 1-8, 1-8)
- L vs. NYU 5-22 (3-6, 0-9, 2-7)
- L vs. St. John's 5-22 (3-6, 0-9, 2-7)

The Seahawks will face Princeton for their next duel match on January 14.
