BOCA RATON, Fla. — The Wagner Swimming & Diving teams opened the 2026 calendar year on Friday, Jan. 9, competing against Florida Atlantic, with the women's team also facing North Texas.
On the women's side, sophomore Mia Goodale continued her strong season with two first-place finishes. She captured the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.06 before adding a victory in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:03.97.
Sophomore Gaya Savran also turned in a pair of runner-up performances. She finished less than two seconds behind the winner in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.00) and narrowly missed first place in the 100-yard butterfly, placing second with a time of 57.74.
For the men, junior Manuel Chavez Villalpando and sophomore Florian Schumich each recorded two top-three finishes. Chavez Villalpando placed third in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.83) and finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (52.52). Schumich added two second-place results, finishing in the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.76) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:59.28).
The Seahawks return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 17, traveling to face Seton Hall at the Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
