Swimming and Diving Wraps Up Harold Anderson Invite

KINGSTON, R.I. — The Wagner swimming and diving teams finished the four-day long Harold Anderson Invite on Sunday on the campus of Rhode Island. The men's team finished third out of five competing teams, and the women finished fifth out of nine teams. Throughout the entire competition, Wagner won six races, earned 10 2nd-place finishes, and 10 3rd-places finishes.

The first day of the competition saw the Seahawks finish top three in all four relay events. The best finish of the day came from the men's 200-yard medley; juniors Senan Noonan, Max Wameling, Manuel Chavez Villalpando, and sophomore Florian Schumich swam a 1:31.61 in the event to finish in 2nd place.

Wagner won their first two events of the invite on day 2. Sophomore Ben McLaughlin won the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 4:35.47, then Wameling and Noonan joined junior Jose Mancera and senior Alex Magditch in winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with a 1:22.49 time.

The Seahawks earned nine top-three finishes on day three, their most of the four days. Sophomore Mia Goodale narrowly came out on top in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a 1:50.78 time, less than a tenth of a second ahead of the second place finisher. Later on, Noonan would continue his successful showing with a win in the 100-yard backstroke event (50.57).
