Women's Basketball Continues PA Road Trip At Saint Francis U

Staten Island, NY -  The Wagner Seahawks will play against Saint Francis U on January 20 at 7 PM at DeGol Arena in Loretto, PA on ESPN+.

The Series

This matchup marks the 42nd meeting all-time between the squads. SFU leads the series 31-10. The Red Flash have won the last two meetings however Coach Coburn is 4-2 all-time against SFU.

Scouting the Red Flash

The Red Flash are 5-13 overall and 3-2 in NEC play. They most recently defeated LIU, 63-54, at home on January 18. Junior guard Natalie Johnson leads the team in scoring (8.2) despite only starting three games this season. Johnson is averaging 10.8 points over her last four games. The Red Flash rank seventh in the NEC in points per game (53.2).

Welcome Back Taleah

After missing the first 10 games of the season, Taleah Washington made her season debut on December 21 against Columbia. This season against Old Westbury, Washington set a new program and career-high 22 assists. She passed Alice Burgos' 1989 record of 16 assist. 22 assists is the second most all-time in NCAAW history. 

Last game, Taleah Washington recorded her second double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Washington also knocked down 13 free throws. 11 rebounds and 13 rebounds mark a new career-high for Taleah.

Fabozzi Continues To Impress

The Staten Island native scored a career-high 38 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds against Old Westbury. 38 points is tied for tenth all-time in Wagner history. Fabozzi scored the go-ahead basket against NJIT to seal the game with 1.8 remaining. The graduate student ranks third in the NEC in points per game (15.7). 

Fabozzi missed her first game of the season last game but is expected to return against SFU. Fabozzi returns after playing seven games last season after missing most of the year with a knee injury.

The Emergence Of Keana Foz 

Keana Foz has started every game this season for the Green & White. Keana Foz holds the top spot in the NEC in steals per game (2.3). Along with being first in the conference in steals, Foz ranks 13th in assists per game (2.3).

Earlier this season, Foz was named the NEC's Rookie of the Week. In two games, she averaged 12 points per game 3.5 assists and 3 rebounds
Foz was also named to the 2024 FIU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team

Wagner leads the NEC in blocks per game (3.19). The Seahawks have three players in the top-10 in blocks per game.

The Seahawks will host Mercyhurst Thursday, January 20 at 7 PM. The Seahawks defeated the Lakers, 71-63, in their previous matchup on January 18.
