Will Fox Tabbed Head Men's Lacrosse Coach

Staten Island, NY - Wagner College Director of Athletics Brendan Fahey has announced the hiring of Will Fox as the Seahawks' men's lacrosse coach.

Fox brings almost a decade of Division I playing and coaching experience to Grymes Hill, most recently as the Defensive Coordinator for Sacred Heart during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

"I'd like to thank Brendan Fahey and the entire Wagner College administration for giving me this opportunity," Fox commented. "I look forward to getting to work with our team and help develop our student-athletes on the field and in the classroom."

Fox coached the Pioneers during their 2024 MAAC title run, helping Sacred Heart to an undefeated mark in conference play and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

"We're excited to welcome Will to our Wagner Athletics family," Fahey added. "He has a plethora of playing and coaching experience at every level and has won at each stop of his lacrosse career. We look forward to seeing our student-athletes develop and compete under his leadership."

Under Fox's supervision, the Pioneers posted the sixth best scoring defense in the nation, conceding an average of 9.61 goals throughout their 2024 campaign. Additionally, Sacred Heart recorded a top-25 face-off percentage (52.5%) and man-down percentage (70.2%) in the nation.

Across his two years, Fox oversaw eight All-MAAC Selections, headlined by the conference's 2024 Offensive Player of the Year, Morgan O'Reily and Long Stick Midfielder of the Year, Zach Buffington.

Prior to his stint at Sacred Heart, Fox was an assistant coach at North Carolina from 2020-22. There, Fox helped the Tar Heels accumulate a record of 28-9, highlighted by an NCAA Semifinal appearance in 2021, an ACC Conference Championship in 2021, 11 All-Americans and six Conference All-Stars.

Fox played at Fairfield for the 2015-18 seasons. During his time as a Stag, Fox earned two nods onto the All-CAA Second-Team in 2015 and 2016, as well as the 2015 CAA Rookie of the Year.

As a senior, Fox collected 78 ground balls and won 154 face-offs.

Fox finished his playing career at Fairfield with 61 game appearances and is second all-time in face-off wins (503), face-off win percentage (.555), and ground balls (220) in school history.

Fox's resume includes being named Fairfield's Male Freshman Athlete of the Year in 2015, a 2018 USILA Scholar All-American honor, a 2018 NEILA Scholar All-American honor, and a 2018 Fairfield's Alumni Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor

The New Jersey native was selected in the 2018 Supplemental Draft by the Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse spending the summer of 2019 on its practice squad as a face-off specialist.

Fox graduated from Fairfield in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Health Studies.
