Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College softball team dropped its doubleheader against CCSU Saturday, April 13 with scores of 1-7 and 2-11.
Game One Recap: Wagner 1-7 CCSUÂ
The Blue Devils jumped to an early lead in the top of the first inning scoring one run before scoring another in the third.Â
The Seahawks struggled to get the bats going, collecting only one hit in the first six innings of the game.Â
CCSU earned five more runs in the fifth and sixth inning before Wagner started a late rally started by junior Justine Carranza with a single to right field. The Seahawks would score one run off of a walk with bases loaded but would come up short in game one with a final score of 1-7.
Game Two Recap: Wagner 2-11 CCSU
The Blue Devils jumped to another early lead scoring eight runs in the first three innings of game two.Â
The Seahawks battled back in the third starting with a single from senior Brooke Wood before sophomore Jordyn Dulken singled to left field. An error by CCSU allowed one run for the Seahawks before sophomore Payton Janicki crushed a double to center field scoring the second run.Â
The Green and White remained scoreless while the Blue Devils put three more runs on the board ending the game in five innings with a score of 2-11.Â
Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Syracuse, NY to take on Le Moyne Saturday, April 20.Â
