Piscataway, NJ - The Wagner baseball team fell to 0-11 on the season with its 7-2 midweek loss at Rutgers on Tuesday at Bainton Field.
The Seahawks led for the first time on the year as senior Lukas Torres walked in a run in the top of the second inning. Although the Scarlet Knights tied the game up the next half inning, Wagner's pitching staff held the home team in check.
Senior Eli Shedd made his first start since May 20, 2022 against Bryant, tossing three innings and allowing just one run on two hits. Freshman Griffin White followed Shedd out of the bullpen, pitching 1.2Â shutout innings.
However, Rutgers scored in each of its final three innings at the plate, tagging all five pitchers after White with an earned run.
Senior Chris Conniff, junior Albert Serrano and graduate student Henry Martinez recorded hits, while Torres reached base via walk on three occasions.
The Green & White will complete their 14-game road stretch to start the season when they travel to Dover, DE to take on Delaware State. The three-game series will serve as the team's Northeast Conference (NEC) opener, with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday, March 8.
