Emmitsburg, MD - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team dropped a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest at Mount St. Mary's, 8-7 on Saturday.
The Mountaineers outscored the Seahawks 2-0 in the first quarter to take the lead into the second quarter.
After the Mountaineers extended their lead to 3-0 early in the second quarter, the Seahawks scored back-to-back goals to get back into the contest. Mount St. Mary's ended the frame on a 2-0 run to take a 5-2 lead into halftime. Junior Ethan Sieb and sophomore Jake Mitchell netted the two goals for Wagner in the first half.
The Seahawks and Mountaineers traded one goal in the third quarter as Mitchell netted his second goal of the game. The Mountaineers took a 6-3 lead into the fourth quarter.
Junior Conor Julich opened the fourth quarter with back-to-back goals to bring the Seahawks to within one goal. After the Mountaineers took an 8-6 lead with 3:10 remaining in the frame, Julich's goal brought the game to 8-7 with 2:32 remaining.
The Seahawks would eventually fall by the same score.
Wagner will be back in action on Wednesday, March 27 when they welcome LIU to Hameline Field at 3:00 pm.
