Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest, 15-5 to NJIT at Hameline Field on Saturday.
The Highlanders outscored the Seahawks 3-1 in the opening quarter, junior Patrick Caldwell scored the lone goal for Wagner in the frame.
Wagner found the back of the net twice in the second quarter as senior Nick Martini and junior James Rea tallied goals. NJIT took a 7-3 lead into halftime.
NJIT outscored Wagner 8-2 in the second half to preserve the victory.
Wagner had five different goal scorers as sophomore goalkeeper Rudy Zarate stopped 10 shots.
Next up, Wagner will open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play on Saturday, March 9 when they host Marist at 6:00 pm.
