Queens, NY - The Wagner College softball split a doubleheader against St. John's Tuesday, March 19 winning the first game with a score of 2-0 and dropping the second game 0-12.

Senior Samantha Tran came out hot with a base hit to left field before stealing second in the top of the first inning.
The Seahawks scored in the top of the second inning off an error by St. John's before scoring in the top of the fifth inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from freshman Sydnie Trujillo.
Freshman pitcher Karson Zavala had an outstanding performance handing out nine strikeouts facing twenty-five batters with seven innings pitched. Zavala shutout St. John's with a final score of 2-0.

St. John's jumped to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning scoring two runs.
In efforts to battle back, junior Justine Carranza earned her first hit of the day at the top of the fourth inning but the rally was cut short.
St. John's put up ten runs off of five hits in the bottom of the third inning making the score 12-0.
In the top of the fifth inning, sophomore Jordyn Dulken earned the last hit for the Seahawks, but the Green and White fell short with a score of 0-12 after five innings.
Next time out, the Seahawks will travel to Jersey City, NJ to take on St. Peters Wednesday, March 27 in a doubleheader.
