Bronx, NY - The Wagner baseball team fell to Fordham on Wednesday afternoon at Houlihan Park, 10-1, in its second midweek contest of the week.
After a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Saint Peter's on Tuesday, the Seahawks fell flat against the Rams. The offense couldn't capitalize on multi-hit performances by sophomore Zack Kent and freshmena Diego Tavarez.
Graduate student David Melfi recorded the lone RBI on the day with a double down the right field line in the sixth. Melfi's hit tied the game at one before Fordham tacked on three, four and two runs, respectively, across its next three innings.
Senior Julian Taudin-Chabot earned the start and performed well, pitching five innings and striking out six batters. He allowed just three hits and one walk, but was issued the loss after giving up three runs, one earned.
The Seahawks will return to SIUH Community Park for the start of their three-game Northeast Conference (NEC) series against Coppin State on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
