South Orange, NJ - The Wagner baseball team fell to 0-7 in Tuesday afternoon's 15-5 tilt against Seton Hall at Owen T. Carroll Field at Mike Sheppard, Sr. Stadium.
Eight runs through the first two innings for the Pirates put the Seahawks in an immediate hole. But the visitors tried to claw their way back after a three-run third. Graduate student David Melfi and junior Mateo Matthews walked in runs before junior Bryce Phelps singled in a third.
Junior Chris Conniff then singled in junior Xavier Baker the next inning to cut the eight-run deficit in half. However, Wagner was outscored 7-1 the rest of the way, sinking it to an 0-7 mark on the year.
Freshman Griffin White impressed out of the bullpen with 4.1 innings of work. Graduate student Alec Burnett struck out all three batters he faced late in the game.
The Seahawks will aim to get into the win column this weekend when they travel to Johnson City, TN to take on ETSU. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
