Johnson City, TN - The Wagner baseball team dropped both of its games at ETSU during Saturday's doubleheader. Game one favored the Buccaneers, 12-6, while game two saw the Seahawks fall, 5-2.
Early inning damage did Wagner in in the first matchup of the day. ETSU took a 5-0 lead before the Seahawks chipped away at their deficit in the fourth inning thanks to a two-run shot by sophomore Zack Kent.
Kent's first career home run drove in junior Xavier Baker, making it a 5-3 ball game.
The Buccaneers bounced back with a three-run homer before junior Chris Conniff and senior Lukas Torres doubled in runs to make it a two-run game once again in the sixth. But the home team continued to pile on the runs, closing the contest with four runs in the eighth.
In game two, Torres collected two RBIs in the seventh inning after ETSU put up three runs on junior Connor Hayden through five innings. Hayden allowed just five hits and struck out two batters.Â
While Wagner closed its deficit to one run in the top of the seventh, the Buccaneers posted two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 5-2 lead that they wouldn't relinquish.
With the loss, the Green & White fall to 0-9 on the year. They will look to capture their first win of the season in the series finale in Johnson City, TN at 1:00 pm.
