Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team dropped its home opener, 17-6 to Le Moyne at Hameline Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Dolphins opened the contest on a 2-0 run before junior
Carson Skinner cut the Le Moyne lead in half with 9:35 remaining in the first.
Le Moyne brought its lead to 3-1 before senior found the back of the net to cut the lead to 3-2. After Le Moyne extended its lead to 4-2, Martini scored his second goal of the frame to bring the game to 4-3 after the first quarter.
Le Moyne outscored Wagner 6-1 in the second quarter, junior
James Rea tallied the lone Wagner goal in the frame as the Dolphins took a 10-4 lead into halftime.
Wagner scored two goals in the second half as Martini completed his hat trick and graduate student
CJ Sweitzer found the back of the net.
Martini's third goal gave him a hat trick in back-to-back games to begin the 2024 season.
Wagner will be back in action on Saturday, February 24 when they travel to Fairfield at 12:00 pm.
