Women's Basketball Set For First Road Matchup At Seton Hall

The Wagner College women's basketball team will travel to Seton Hall on Thursday, tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
 

​​Last Time Out

Wagner started its 2024-25 campaign with a victory over the Saint Elizabeth Eagles by a score of 83-39.
 

Wagner In The National Rankings

The Green & White shot 32 of 60 from the field (55.0%) and 10-23 from beyond-the-arc (43.5%).

Wagner's 43.5% success rate from three ranks the Seahawks tied for 29th in the nation.

The Seahawks shot a field goal percentage of 53.3%, ranking 25th in the country.

 

The Return Of Fabozzi

Graduate student Julia Fabozzi led the way for the Seahawks, scoring 22 points which matched her career-high in the category. 

Fabozzi set a new career-high in made three pointers with five, eclipsing her mark of three set against LIU on January 8, 2023.

Fabozzi only played seven games last season after missing most of the year with a knee injury,

 

The Emergence Of Angelie Ricard 

Junior Angelie Ricard set new career bests in points scored, three-pointers made, and tied her career-high in rebounds against Saint Elizabeth.

In 21 minutes of action, Ricard scored 21 points on five three pointers and corralled five rebounds in the win.

Ricard's career-high before Monday's game sat at 15 points, when the Orford, Quebec native grabbed five rebounds against CCSU on January 27, 2024.

 

The Supporting Cast 

Sophomore Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor set personal bests in points scored, rebounds, and blocks in 19 minutes against the Eagles.

Modesayor capitalized on six shots to score 12 points while grabbing seven rebounds with two blocks.

Freshman Keana Foz got the nod at point for the Seahawks, dishing out a team-high seven assists to go along with seven points, four rebounds, and three steals in 21 minutes of action.

Only four instances during last year's season did a Seahawk end a game with seven or more assists.

Graduate student Raneem ElBarky provided a spark off the bench for Wagner.

The Cairo, Egypt native scored eight points, all in the third quarter, and collected six rebounds in 18 minutes.

 

Scouting Seton Hall

Thursday's game marks the first regular season contest for the Pirates.

Last Saturday, Seton Hall defeated Jefferson College by a score of 87-61.

Against the Rams, sophomore guard Savannah Catalon scored 22 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists in the win.

During the 2023-24 season, Seton Hall produced a record of 17-15 with a conference mark of 8-10.

 

The Series

The Seahawks have not taken down the Pirates in their five all-time meetings.

The Seahawks have a completely new roster compared to when Wagner and Seton Hall last met.

Most recently, Wagner and Seton Hall competed against one another on January 21, 2021. Seton Hall came away with a 70-62 win at Walsh Gymnasium.

 

What's Next

After their matchup with the Pirates, the Seahawks will travel to Annapolis, MD for a contest against Navy on Thursday, November 14. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
