Men’s Golf Wraps Up Fall Season At Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship

Montclair, NJ - On Monday and Tuesday, October 28th and 29th, the Wagner College men's golf team hosted the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship at Montclair Golf Club.

Nine golfers traveled with the team, enough to form an A team and a B team.

Individually, the Seahawks were paced by graduate student Thomas Choi who had won the individual portion of the event in 2022 and 2023.

While he didn't win the tournament this year, he tied for fifth place shooting a 75 (+5) on day one and a 72 (+2) on day two. Choi made seven birdies in 36 holes of golf, which ranked second overall.

Senior Michael Foley and junior Johnny Svalina each finished at +19.

The remaining Seahawks all finished within one stroke of one another. Freshmen, Emilio Zapiain and Daniel Cassidy at +23 and +24, juniors Javier Gonzalez Diaz and Alavid Melo Iturralde at +25 and +26, sophomore Chris Solari at +27, and junior Renato Gerena at +28.

The Wagner A team finished 8th out of 11 participating teams. The B team placed 11th.
