Men’s Golf Participates In Bucknell Invitational As Thomas Choi Earns Third Place Overall

Union County, PA - The Wagner College men's golf team's trip to the Bucknell Invitational Tournament was highlighted by graduate student Thomas Choi shooting -1 through 54 holes of competition.

He placed third overall in the 106-man field while making 14 birdies along the way.

Choi showcased an impressive -3, 67, the lowest score registered by a Seahawk so far this year, taking sole possession of second place at the conclusion of day one.

Wagner placed 11th overall among 18 teams at the 6235-yard par 70 course. They shot an 861 (+41) overall, trailing the leader, St. Johns, by 26 strokes.

Freshman Emilio Zapian (+9) shot back-to-back 72's on days two and three at Bucknell to power the newcomer to a 33rd place finish, the best mark of his collegiate career.

Senior Michael Foley and freshman Daniel Cassidy tied overall at 17-over for a 69th place finish. Cassidy shot a 71 (+1) on day one and Foley a 74 (+4) on day three, but each took a stepback on day two of the tournament, as did the rest of the field on a windy morning in Pennsylvania.

Sophomore Chris Solari finished +23 overall and shot a 76 on day three to round out the Green & White's efforts.

The Seahawks' 11th place finish is an improvement compared to their performance at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Tournament earlier this season. Wagner managed to shoot fewer strokes over par at the Bucknell Invitational, despite an extra day of play.

Next up, Wagner is set to participate in a one-day dual match against St. Peters at Galloping Hill Country Club in Kenilworth, NJ on Monday, October 21.
