Field Hockey Set To Open 2023 Season At Lafayette

Easton, PA - The Wagner College field hockey program will begin the 2023 season at Lafayette on Friday, August 25 at 7:00 pm.

2022 Recap
The Seahawks made its third consecutive Northeast Conference (NEC) appearance after earning a share of the regular season title with Rider.

Wagner placed four players on All-Conference teams last season as Julia Cruces Pastorino, Agustina Deharbe, Liselotte Kopp and graduate student Laura Van Hamburg received First Team honors. Cruces Pastorino was named Offensive Player of the Year.

The 2022 season was a season of firsts for the Seahawks as they eclipsed double-digit victories for the first time in program history while earning the most NEC wins in program history. Wagner also notched an 8-1 record on Grymes Hill, the most home wins in a single season.

Welcome Back
The Seahawks will return 18 players from the 2022 squad. The Seahawks have three returners who started in all 18 games last season in Laura Van Hamburg, Shaelyn Kobrynich and Emma Lofstedt. All three players were named captains along with junior Rebecca Desiderio.

Welcome To Grymes Hill
Wagner will welcome 13 newcomers to Grymes Hill for the 2023 campaign. Wagner will welcome 11 freshmen and two graduate transfers to the roster.

Preseason Poll
The Seahawks were picked tied for second in the annual NEC Preseason Poll alongside reigning NEC champions Rider.

This is the third consecutive season the Seahawks were picked in the top-three of the poll.

The Schedule
Wagner's first game on Grymes Hill will be Friday, September 8 against Holy Cross while NEC play will begin on Friday, September 29 at Saint Francis U. 

About Lafayette
Lafayette's first game of the season will take place against the Seahawks at Rappolt Field.

The Leopards were picked fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll as juniors Lineke Spaans and India Ralph were named Preseason All-League.

Wagner will travel to Hempstead, NY to take on Hofstra on Friday, September 1 at 3:00 pm.
