Field Hockey Announces 2023 Captains

Staten Island, NY - Wagner College field hockey coach Niki Miller has announced the team's captains for the upcoming 2023 season.

Taking on the leadership roles will be graduate student Laura Van Hamburg, senior Shaelyn Kobrynich and juniors Emma Lofstedt and Rebecca Desiderio.

Van Hamburg returns to the Seahawks as a first time captain after being named All-Conference First Team last season. Through four seasons as a Seahawk, she has started in all 52 games she has appeared in. Last season, Van Hamburg led the team with four game-winning goals.

Shaelyn Kobrynich returns for her second consecutive season as a captain. Last season, the Clarks, Summit, PA native started all 18 games for the Green & White while tallying two assists. 

Emma Lofstedt enters the 2023 season as a first-time captain, the Durban, South Africa native has started in every game since she began her Wagner career for the 2021 season.

Rebecca Desiderio enters her junior season as a first-time captain, the North Caldwell, NJ native has appeared 21 games while making five starts throughout her first two seasons as a Seahawk.

The Seahawks will begin the 2023 season on Friday, August 25 at Lafayette.
