Bridgewater, NJ – Graduate student pitcher
Eve Harvey of the Wagner College softball team was named Northeast Conference (NEC) Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Harvey earned three complete game wins in Wagner's pivotal sweep over Sacred Heart, pitching 24 innings in two days while striking out 16 and allowing just three runs in three games.
On Friday, Harvey became just the third pitcher in Wagner history to record 300 career strikeouts. The San Bernadino, CA native pitched 10 innings in the Seahawks' 3-2 win in extra innings, allowing just four hits.
One day later, Harvey earned the win in both games of the doubleheader, as the Seahawks picked up a 3-1 win in game one before completing the series sweep with a 1-0 victory in game two.
In game two, Harvey struck out eight Pioneers while only allowing two hits.
Apart from Harvey, graduate student
Mackenzie Vogler earned NEC Prime Performer honors for her performance against the Pioneers. Vogler had three RBIs against the Pioneers, including a two-run single in Friday's 3-2 victory.
As a team, Wagner will travel to Fairleigh Dickinson for the final NEC regular season series. Three Wagner wins over the Knights combined with three Merrimack losses against Saint Francis U or three CCSU losses against Stonehill will clinch a spot in the NEC Tournament for the Seahawks.
