Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's lacrosse team captured its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) win with a 12-11 triple overtime victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday afternoon.
In a high scoring first quarter, the Seahawks outscored the Bobcats 4-3 behind four different goal scorers. Graduate student

Benjamin Stewart netted goals in the opening frame.
The Seahawks took a 5-3 lead off a goal from sophomore
Patrick Caldwell before the Bobcats rattled off a 5-0 run to take an 8-5 lead.
CJ Sweitzer netted his second goal of the game to bring the game to 8-6 heading into halftime.
The Seahawks opened the second half on a 2-0 run behind goals from freshman
Jake Mitchell and
Chase Alber to tie the game at eight. After Quinnipiac took a 9-8 lead, sophomore
Carson Skinner tied the game at nine as the game stayed there heading into the fourth quarter.
Benjamin Stewart gave Wagner a 10-9 lead with 12:16 remaining in the fourth before the Bobcats tied the game. Sophomore
Conor Julich gave Wagner an 11-10 lead with 3:53 to play before Quinnipiac tied the game with two seconds remaining in the fourth.
After two scoreless overtime periods,
Benjamin Stewart netted his fourth goal of the game to give Wagner its first conference win of the 2023 season.
Along with four goals, Stewart had two assists to go along with 10 shots.
CJ Sweitzer chipped in two goals on eight shots to go along with one assist.
Senior
Brendan Higgins notched three ground balls and two caused turnovers in the win while senior goalkeeper
Danny Brady stopped 12 shots while scooping three ground balls.
Wagner will be back in action on Saturday, March 25 when they welcome Mount St. Mary's to Hameline Field at 12:00 pm.
