Geneva, OH - The swimming & diving program had three first place finishes at the final day of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships on Saturday as the women's program finished second and the men's program finished fourth. On the women's side, the result marks the Seahawks' best finish since 2018, while the men's team recorded its best finish in program history.
Freshman Ruben Van Gool broke his own school record with a first place time of 15:55.17 in the 1650-yard freestyle. Van Gool's victory also marked the first ever first place finish in the men's program's history.
Senior Olivia Bishop clocked in with a time of 50.78 in the 100-yard freestyle for another Wagner first place finish.
To cap off the NEC Championships on the women's side, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Vilarrasa, Bishop, freshman Presley Staretz and sophomore Annie Jencova took home first place with a time of 3:23.84.
Central Connecticut earned the team title on the women's side, with Howard taking home the title on the men's side.
The Seahawks swept second place in the 200-yard backstroke.
Freshman Aura Vilarrasa found herself on the podium with a final time of 2:01.11. Fellow freshman Kaan Nalçaci also earned second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:47.15.
Nalcaci also won the NEC Championships Rookie of the Meet for his performance in Geneva.
Wagner got a podium placement in the 3m dive as well as freshman Carter Green came in third place with 223.15 total points.
Senior Taylor Marjamaa placed fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:38.98.
Freshman Joel Knaapi came in sixth place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.66. Sophomore Adrian Aguirre placed eighth in the tight race, clocking in at 45.89.
Sophomore Bree Anderson placed sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke.
