Bridgewater, NJ - The Wagner College men's swimming and diving team were named the winners of the Northeast Conference Winter Team Sportsmanship Award. The men's swimming and diving team secured a second-place finish at the NEC Championships, coming up just seven points shy of first-place Howard. In the previous season, the Seahawks earned their first NEC Championships coming in first place in 2024. During the 2025 NEC Championships, Sophomores Nikko Carrillo delivered a standout performance winning the 200-yard butterfly with a meet-record time of 1:48.23. Sophomore Adrian Andres Moreno also shined, winning the 200-yard breaststroke in 1:59.02 and taking first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 53.63 to secure second place behind Howard.

Instituted by league Presidents in 2008, the awards are designed to acknowledge the team in each conference sport that, in the opinion of its peers, most closely demonstrates good sportsmanship and standards of conduct. Voting is conducted at the conclusion of each season by each team and head coach, who rank teams within the conference based on a set of criteria.

Since the NEC Team Sportsmanship program was instituted in 2008-09, Saint Francis U has won a conference-best 51 awards, followed by CCSU (35), Wagner (34) and LIU (31).

"Our sportsmanship awards program serves as a meaningful reminder that how we compete is just as important as the results on the scoreboard," said NEC Commissioner Noreen Morris. "Each of these teams earned the respect of their peers by consistently demonstrating what it means to compete with character and integrity. We are proud to honor those who embody the spirit of fair play."
