Women’s Basketball Travels To Columbia On Sunday Afternoon

New York, NY - The Wagner College women's basketball team will travel to Columbia on Sunday, tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
Wagner earned its second consecutive win with a 69-67 win at Saint Peter's on Thursday, December 6. Graduate student Taleah Washington tallied a career-high 23 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
 
Down 11 points entering the fourth quarter, the Seahawks outscored the Peacocks 27-14 in the final 10 minutes, Washington launched the game-winning shot with two seconds remaining to give Wagner the win.

Freshman Drew Jordon and junior Paige Lyons each tallied 13 points in the win.

Taleah Washington Continues To Impress
Taleah Washington's 23 points against Saint Peter's propelled the Seahawks to their second consecutive win. The District Heights, MD native shot 9-17 from the floor and 5-10 from three-point range in 40 minutes played. Washington also tallied a game-high eight points and two three-pointers made in the fourth quarter.
 
Washington has tallied eight three-pointers made over the last two games as she launched three against Navy on November 30. She finished with 11 points against the Midshipmen.

Newcomers Making An Impact
Along with Washington, Drew Jordon has netted a double-digit scoring effort in back-to-back games. Against Saint Peter's, Jordan tallied 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Jordan had 11 points, five rebounds, and two steals against Navy.

Freshman Kiera Edmonds had nine points and seven rebounds against Saint Peter's. The Brooklyn, NY native has at least six rebounds in six out of seven games played this season.

Edmons' 7.1 rebounds per game ranks second in the Northeast Conference (NEC).

Junior Semie Brar leads the Seahawks in scoring with 11.6 points per game, Brar has two 20-plus scoring efforts this season. Brar was named an NEC Prime Performer on Monday for her efforts against Iona on November 27 and Navy on November 30.

Ball Hawks
Wagner's 9.9 steals per game ranks first in the NEC and 82nd in the nation.

Relentless On The Glass
Wagner's 13.3 offensive rebounds per game ranks first in the NEC and 102nd in the nation.

Scouting Columbia
Columbia welcomes Wagner riding a four-game winning streak and a 6-1 record at home.

Abbey Hsu was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award watch lists. Last season, Hsu was named a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention.

Columbia is coming off its best season in program history as they tallied a 24-6 overall mark and a 12-2 record in Ivy League play. The Lions advanced to the Ivy League championship game and the WNIT championship game.

The Series
This will be the 16th time the Seahawks and Lions will square off. The Seahawks hold a 9-6 head-to-head advantage over the Lions.
