Newark, NJ - The Wagner College women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest at NJIT, 80-36, on Saturday afternoon.
The Highlanders put a stamp on the first quarter when they outscored the Seahawks 21-9 in the opening frame. Junior Semie Brar led all Seahawks in the opening 10 minutes with five points on 2-4 shooting from the field.
NJIT outscored Wagner 18-6 in the second frame as Brar, sophomore Angelie Ricard and freshman
Kiera Edmonds each had two points. Graduate student
Taleah Washington chipped in two assists in the second quarter.
NJIT took a 39-15 lead into halftime.
The Highlanders outscored the Seahawks 20-10 in the third quarter, junior Rakisha Ballinger led the way for Wagner with four points while junior Paige Lyons tallied three points. Taleah Washington tallied two steals in the third quarter.
NJIT outscored Wagner 21-11 in the final frame as they were able to come away with the victory.
Semie Brar led the way for Wagner with nine points in the contest to go along with three steals.
Wagner will be back in action on Tuesday, November 21 when they travel to Boston, MA to take on Northeastern at 8:00 pm.
