The Seahawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Kobayashi was plunked by a pitch while moving up to second on a single by Ruggiero. With one out, Selby singled through the right side, plating home Kobayashi for the game's first run. Bey reached on a fielder's choice as Ruggiero came into score but Selby was forced out at second as the Green & White went up by two.

The Blue Devils cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the second. With two outs, Jeff Nicol singled through the left side to start the rally. Kyle Gordon walked before Mike Torniero sent an RBI single back up the middle for Central's first run of the game. CCSU threatened for more in the frame, but Elliot Good reached on an infield single to second by Gordon and was thrown out at home as Bey fired one over to Quinn Mimnaugh, who alertly sent a strike to David Melfi to nab him. The home team evened the score in the bottom of the third as a wild pitch from Shedd brought in the tying run, as the teams were knotted at 2-2.

The Seahawks sparked a four-run top of the fifth in taking a 6-2 lead. Melfi led off the inning with a walk and moved into scoring position on an infield single by Mimnaugh. With one out, Ruggiero worked a walk to load the bases. The next batter, Faicchio ripped a single to center before moving to second on the throw as both Melfi and Mimnaugh came into score and was followed by Ruggiero, who came in on a fielding error by Martinez at first to make it 5-2. Selby added an RBI grounder to short as Faicchio came into score as Wagner upped the lead by four.

The Blue Devils cut the lead in half, 6-3, as a second wild pitch plated in Covino, who reached on a walk to start the frame and moved to third on a single by Martinez to right. CCSU tied the game again in the bottom of the sixth with three runs to even the score at 6-6. Pasqualini singled to right-center before moving to second on Wagner's third wild pitch of the game. Devito sent a single to left that brought in Pasqualini made it 6-4. Covino reached on a fielder's choice before Martinez singled to right, giving the Blue Devils runners on the corner.

Fote came on as a pinch-hitter for Nicol and promptly doubled to left field, bringing in both runners but was thrown out at third trying to extend the double into a triple.
The Blue Devils broke the stalemate in their half of the seventh. Gorman came on for Crouse and allowed a leadoff single to Gordon. A sacrifice single moved Gordon to second before Gorman walked Good. The next batter, Pasqualini, tripled down the right-field line that cleared the bases as CCSU took an 8-6 lead. Devito reached on a fielder's choice bunt that scored Pasqualini, giving the defending league champions a three-run cushion.

Garofalo came on for Jake Neuman in the eighth, striking out two of the three batters he saw to start his afternoon, before striking out Mimnaugh to start the ninth and getting Kobayashi to fly out to left and Ruggiero to ground out to first to end the contest.
