Men's 4x800 Breaks School Record At 2022 Penn Relays

Philadelphia, PA - Members of the Wagner outdoor track & field team participated at the 2022 Penn Relays, presented by Toyota. 

The men's 4x800 squad, comprised of William Cuthbertson, Mahmoud Abdalla, Robert Guidicipietro, and Michael Hubert, made history in the City of Brotherly Love. 

The quartet set a new outdoor school record as they finished second in the event with a time of 7:28.68. 
 
The mark, which finished behind Navy (7:24.92), surpasses the previous school record of 7:38.11, which was set by Jonathan Besselink, Matthew Whalen, Nick Velez, and Joey Abbatiello at the 2018 IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championships. 
 
The men's 4x200 squad of Cyril Babcanec, Joshua Cadet, Jason Marchese, and Thomas Corel concluded the event in sixth with a time of 1:26.75. 
 
Michael Pepe competed in the discus, finishing with a toss of 51.16m to place tenth overall. 
 
In the men's Sprint Medley, Abdalla, Logan Murphey, Josiah Cadet, and Cuthbertson posted a time of 3:31.56 to place among the top-14. 
 
The women's 4x100 team of Melissa Waters, Mia Milton, Ruth-Ann Chambers, and Sara Rutherford turned in a top-14 performance, finishing the race in 49.52. 
 
Rounding out the Seahawks' performances at Penn Relays was the men's 4x100 team of Logan Murphey, Joshua Cadet, Cyril Babcanec, and Ryan Lane, who clocked in with a time of 42.51. 
 
In addition, several members of the team competed at Thursday's West Point Twlight, hosted by Army West Point. 
 
Lane took second in the long jump with a mark of 6.91m while teammate Kharlin Watkins placed sixth overall in the high jump, soarking 1.81m. 
 
Agathe Yabit jumped 10.20m in the triple jump to place fifth overall while Hannah Cloutier cleared 3.25m in the pole vault to place sixth.
 
Both teams will turn their attention to the upcoming Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which is set to be competed on the campus of Mount St. Mary's on May 7-8.
