BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Graduate Justin Morris and junior Jack Mason have been named NEC Track Athlete of the Week and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Morris earns the nod after running a personal-best 30:30.61 time in the 10,000m at Bucknell's Bison Outdoor Classic. Morris shaved off a minute from his last time running the 10,000m, a 31:33.53 time at the 2024 NEC Outdoor Championship. This is Morris' first time to be named an NEC weekly award winner.
Joining Morris is Mason, who finished third in long jump at the Rutgers Relays on April 11 with a new school record, logging a 7.59m jump. He broke the record of 7.48m, previously by Ryan Lane at the 2024 Rider Invitational on April 20, 2024. This is Mason's first time earning NEC Field Athlete of the Week in outdoor season after also winning the award during indoor season on December 16 with a 7.33m long jump.
Alongside Morris and Mason, sophomore Ty Lawless, junior Khalid Brown, freshman Noah Grant, sophomore Christine Manneh and junior Magui Calvo-Jorge were named Prime Performers by the conference.
Next up, the Seahawks will compete at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships at Rutgers' Bauer Track & Field Complex on Saturday, April 18, also competing in the Rider Invitational. The IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Championships will continue across two days, concluding on Sunday, April 19.
