Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's basketball team gears up to host their final two home games of the 2022 regular season this week, as the Seahawks first play host to the first-place Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights. 

OPENING TIP...
  • The Seahawks will look to halt a five-game losing streak to the Knights, which will also tie the regular season meeting at 1-1. 
  • Wagner was victorious in their last outing, a 65-58, road triumph at Central Connecticut as four players, led by Emilija Krista Grava, scored in double-figures. Krista Grava finished with a team-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. 
  • FDU will look for their third straight win after defeating Bryant at the Rothman Center on Saturday, 59-52. 

SERIES BREAKDOWN AGAINST FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON...
  • Thursday's contest with the Knights marks the 84th all-time meeting between the two teams, with FDU holding a 45-38 edge in the head-to-head series. 
  • Wagner will look to snap a five-game losing streak to the Knights, after dropping the first meeting of the season series, 73-55, back on January 17 in Teaneck, NJ. 
  • Three of the last five games between the two programs have been decided by five points or less. 
  • In the Jan. 17 game, Alex Cowan led the way for the Seahawks, scoring a team-high 11 points, seven of those coming from a perfect 7 of 7 from the free-throw line in 31 minutes of action. 


SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS...
  • The Knights currently sit in first-place in the league standings at 16-9 overall and 13-2 in conference play. 
  • FDU had an impressive eight-game winning streak from Jan. 15 to February 5, which helped the team propel into the top spot on the league standings. 
  • The Knights will look for their third straight win, after defeating Merrimack (55-49) and Bryant (59-52) at the Rothman Center this past weekend. 
  • Collectively, FDU is fourth in the league in scoring at 62.2 points per game but lead the way in scoring defense, allowing just 57.4 points per game, slightly ahead of Wagner (58.1 ppg). 
  • The Knights have connected on 73.7 percent from the free-throw line.
  • Wagner and the Knights are the top-two field goal percentage defense teams in the league, with FDU holding opponents to just 37.4 percent shooting and the Seahawks 37.8 percent. 
  • Individually, Chloe Wilson and Madison Stanley rank seventh and eighth, respectively, on the league's scoring list, with Wilson pouring in 12.6 points per game and Stanley 12.4. 
  • Stanley is fourth in rebounding at 7.2 per game while ranking second in the NEC in blocks per game at 1.5 bpg.

  • Of the 26 first-year head coaches this season in the NCAA, Wagner's first-year bench boss, Terrell Coburn, is sixth with a .583 win percentage and tied for the sixth-most wins with 14.

WINNING WAYS…
  • In Wagner's 14 wins this season, the Seahawks have outscored their opponents by 11.3 points per game, as the Seahawks offense has put up 63.9 points per game while yielding just 52.6 points per game. 
  • The Green & White have shot the ball well, connecting for 43.6 percent from the floor while hitting on 38.0 percent from three-point range. The opposition, however, has been held to just 35.7 percent shooting and on 21.6 percent from long distance (56-259).

  • Krista Grava is rapidly approaching joining the all-time career field goals made list, as she currently stands at 522. 
  • Currently, Cynthia Quinlan (1986-1990) occupies the eighth spot on that list with 534 career made field goals. In terms of career attempts, EKG has recorded 1,167 attempts and needs just 114 more attempts to crack the top-ten. 
  • Kem Nwabudu is rapidly approaching the 1,000 career point plateau, as the Elmont, NY native has amassed 942 career points between her time at Winthrop and Wagner. As a member of the Seahawk, she has netted 374 career points. 
  • Both Nwabudu and Krista Grava have reached the 500+ career rebound plateau in the careers. Nwabudu has snagged 210 during her time at Wagner and 539 overall while EKG has corralled 532 over her four-years on Staten Island.
  • The all-time mark belongs to Mary Gormley (1977-1981), who finished her career with 1,297. Carrie Walker (2000-2004) currently sits in ninth place on the list with 813 career boards.
