Men’s Basketball Earns 78-68 Win Over Central Connecticut On Senior Day

Staten Island, NY – Behind 26 points by redshirt-senior Raekwon Rogers, the Wagner College men's basketball team earned a 78-68 victory over Central Connecticut on Senior Day at the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday.

Prior to the game, Wagner honored Rogers and graduate students Alex Morales, Elijah Ford, Will Martinez, and Nigel Jackson

With the win, Wagner improves to 19-3 on the season and 15-1 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play while completing the season sweep over the Blue Devils.

Rogers hit on eight of nine field goal attempts while connected on 10 out of 13 free throws for a season-high 26 points, while Morales added 18 points. Senior Jahbril Price Noel contributed 14 points on 6-10 shooting.
The Seahawks jumped out to a 13-5 lead midway through the first half on consecutive buckets and a free throw by Rogers that capped off a 10-0 Wagner run.

After taking a 32-26 lead into the half, consecutive threes by Morales to start the second period gave the Seahawks their first double-digit lead of the game at 38-26 with 17:38 to play.
Rogers once again took over from there, as three straight buckets, including one traditional three-point play, gave Wagner its biggest lead of the game at 49-34 with 14:31 to play.
The Blue Devils cut the lead to six with under four minutes to play, but it wasn't enough, as yet another timely basket by Rogers with 2:28 to play gave the Seahawks a 72-64 advantage and helped Wagner earn the victory.
As a team, Wagner converted on 24-48 field goals (50%), while holding CCSU to 18-43 (41.9) from the field.

The Seahawks combined for 18 assists on the day, as Martinez led the way with six assists on the afternoon. Wagner held a 34-18 advantage in points in the paint throughout the game.

Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Fairleigh Dickinson in a nationally televised game on Thursday, February 24, with tip-off set for 6:00 pm on CBS Sports Network.
