Staten Island, NY -  The Wagner women's basketball team will look to stop a three-game losing streak as they close out their homestand on Sunday afternoon against the Merrimack College Warriors. 
WAGNER ATHLETICS SPECTATOR POLICY...
  • In accordance with New York State and New York City guidelines the Wagner College Athletic Department has announced the following spectator policy for all indoor athletic competitions:
  • All guests will be required to wear masks
  • All guests over 11 years old must show proof of vaccination 
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult
  • Physical tickets must be picked up on game day (can still be purchased and reserved in advance)

OPENING TIP...
  • Wagner will look to snap its three-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon, as it marks the first time since the 2019-20 season that the team has lost three consecutive games. 
  • The Seahawks are 6-1 this season at the Spiro Sports Center, averaging 60.7 points per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point range. 
  • Merrimack will look to eradicate a five-game losing streak, after dropping a 73-67 road tilt at Bryant on Friday afternoon. 

SERIES BREAKDOWN AGAINST MERRIMACK...
  • Sunday's tilt between Wagner and Merrimack marks just the fourth all-time meeting against the Warriors, with the Seahawks holding a 2-1 edge in the head-to-head series. 
  • Last season, the Seahawks traveled to North Andover, MA and left with a pair of victories, which included a 74-68 overtime triumph on Jan. 30.  
  • In the two victories last season against the Warriors, three Seahawks averaged double-figures in scoring, led by Zhaneia Thybulle and Emilija Krista Grava, who each netted 11.0 ppg. 
  • Thybulle dished out 4.5 apg and collected 3.0 rpg in 33.0 minutes. 
  • Krista Grava pulled down a team-leading 6.5 rpg, which came as a result of notching a double-double (14p/10r) in the opener on Jan. 29. 


SCOUTING THE WARRIORS...
  • The Warriors enter play with an overall record of 4-11 and 2-5 in league play. 
  • Merrimack is looking to stop a five-game losing streak after dropping a 73-67 road tilt at Bryant on Friday. 
  • Kate Mager (15 points), Teneisia Brown (13 points, 10 rebounds) Carla Balague (11 points) led the way for the visitors. 
  • Mayson Kimball and Mager are fourth and fifth in the league in scoring, respectively, averaging 13.4 points per game and 12.8 points per game. 
  • Mager ranks second in the circuit in three-point shooting, hitting at a 46.6 percent clip. 
  • As a team, the Warriors are averaging 62.3 points per game on 38.8 percent shooting from the floor.
  • Merrimack ranks just ahead of Wagner in team assist/turnover ratio at 0.8. 

FIRST-YEAR SUCCESS...
  • Head coach Terrell Coburn has Wagner off to a 10-5 start in his first year at the helm of the program.  Through games played on January 19, Coach Coburn ranks seventh with a .667 win percentage.

  • The Elmont, NY native is 39th in the NCAA in assists per game, averaging 5.1. In terms of total assists, Thybulle has dished out a NEC-leading 76 total assists, which ranks 45th in the nation.

  • Senior forward Emilija Krista Grava became the 25th member of the 1,000 point club on November 28 against New Hampshire.
  • Krista Grava, who recorded the milestone feat with 59.2 seconds showing on the clock in the second quarter, finished the game with 11 points while also grabbing five rebounds.
