The University of Pennsylvania Spectator Policy
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – The Wagner women's fencing team will begin the spring portion of its season at the Philadelphia Invitational on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Nationally Recognized
The Seahawks checked in at #11 in the latest United States Fencing Coaches Association Poll, released on January 13. The USFCA poll consists of 44 teams, including 28 Division I, one Division II and 16 Division III NCAA institutions.
Along with being ranked #11, the Seahawks rank third out of 14 teams in the Mid-Atlantic/South Region behind Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania.
During the fall season, Wagner claimed a 75% winning percentage while winning 311 bouts and losing 121.
About The Philadelphia Invitational
The University of Pennsylvania has hosted the Philadelphia Invitational 10 times since 2010 and excluding 2019 and 2016. For Wagner, this will be the third trip the team will take down to Philadelphia to compete in the event.
This installment of the event features 19 institutions: The University of North Carolina, Duke University, NJIT, Sacred Heart, NYU, Lafayette, Johns Hopkins, Haverford, Cornell, FDU, Princeton, Yale, Drew, Columbia, Northwestern, Temple, UPenn, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Wagner.
The Seahawks will compete in just the first day of the two-day tournament while taking on Haverford, Sacred Heart, Johns Hopkins, UPenn and Cornell.
Last Time Out
In the final meet of the fall, the Seahawks traveled to Vassar College to compete in the Vassar Invitational on November 14. While competing against seven schools, Wagner claimed victories over Army West Point, Fairleigh Dickinson, Haverford, Lafayette, Sacred Heart and Vassar.
Following the trip to Philadelphia, the Seahawks will head to Notre Dame for the Notre Dame DeCicco Duals on January 29.
