Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's lacrosse team wraps a two-game home stand on Saturday against the Long Island University (LIU) Sharks in Northeast Conference (NEC) action. Opening face-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. from Hameline Field.

Wagner–LIU History
The Seahawks and Sharks are 1-1 against each other all-time. Wagner won last year's first-ever match-up 9-8 in overtime, and the Sharks won this season's opener (not counted as an official NEC game) 19-8.

Graduate student Philip Buque notched a hat trick in his Seahawks debut earlier this season and fellow graduate student Nic Ancona scored twice and added an assist. Graduate student Tim Schmidt, junior John Killcommons, and freshman Aidan Clark all found the back of the net once.

Last Time Out For Wagner
The Seahawks fell to Bryant, 18-5, last Sunday.

Buque remained an offensive force with four more goals, his third hat trick and fourth multi-goal game of the season. Fellow graduate student Matt Cechini added a goal and two assists for a season-high three points. Juniors Stephen Dwyer and Tyler Lawton both added an assist for Wagner.

Sophomore Brendan Higgins finished the day with a team-high six ground balls, three caused turnovers, and a 3-for-5 day from the face-off X. Senior Matt Morris was right behind Higgins with four ground balls. Senior Connor Sweeney, junior Tommy Scarpello, as well as freshmen Aidan Clark and Giovanni Armocida all finished with at least one ground ball and one caused turnover.

About LIU
LIU comes in to Saturday 4-1 on the year and 3-0 in NEC play, one of just three remaining conference unbeatens.

Up front, Richie LaCalandra leads the conference in both goals (3.4) and assists (3.0) per game, averaging nearly two points per game more than the next closest player.
Tyler Emerson has won 57.1 percent of his face-offs this season, including two game surpassing 65 percent.

In net, Will Mark leads the conference in both save percentage (.654) and saves per game (17.8). He's won each of the last four NEC Defensive Player of the Week awards.
