Brookville, NY – A big first half from Long Island University proved to be the difference, as the Wagner men's lacrosse team fell 19-8 to the Sharks in a rain and fog-filled non-conference contest at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.

Lance Rainer led the squad with four ground balls while
Danny Brady recorded 10 saves through three periods.
Richie LaCalandra led the Sharks attack with eight points on the day including four goals. LIU's offense recorded 34 shots on target and gained possession on 19 of 29 face-offs.
With the loss the Seahawks fall to 0-1 on the year while the Sharks improve to 1-1.
How It Happened:
LaCalandra and Ancona traded goals in the opening 3:21, with each scoring on their respective first shots of the game. LIU sophomore attackman Sean Boll scored on a man-up advantage that ignited a four goal run for the Sharks.
Seahawk captain Schmidt answered the streak by scoring off a feed from Ancona on a great dive to the front of the net.
LIU's Nick Grasso countered with 0:36 left in the first period to give the Sharks a 6-2 lead.
St. Bonaventure transfer Killcomons freed himself with a swim move before netting his first goal as a Seahawk early in the second. The goal was sandwiched in between two LaCalandra scores as the Sharks led 8-3 with a little over six-minutes to play in the second period.
LIU would add two more goals to increase the led before Ancona added his second score of the contest. The Sharks tossed in the final goal of the half on an Alex Russell shot to take an 11-4 lead at the break.
Freshman
Aidan Clark sniped home a shot attempt with 11:33 remaining in the third quarter to register his first collegiate goal. LIU controlled the remainder of the quarter, extending the advantage to 15-5 at the conclusion of three periods.
The Seahawks received a hat trick outburst from Buque on an impressive display of moves in the final quarter. His last score came on a dish from freshman
Justin White who etched his name on the stat sheet in his first collegiate competition. The Sharks would one-up the Green & White's three goal output in the fourth to claim a 19-8 victory.
Next Up For Wagner
The Seahawks will next be in action on Tuesday, March 2nd against Hofstra. Opening face-off for the road contest is set for 4:00 p.m.
