South Orange, NJ -  The Wagner women's basketball team closes out the non-conference slate of games on Tuesday afternoon as the Seahawks will square off against the Seton Hall University Pirates at Walsh Gymnasium. 

OPENING TIP...
  • The Green & White saw their six-game win streak stopped on Saturday, falling to Big Ten member, Rutgers, 73-54, in Piscataway, NJ. 
  • Two-time Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week, Lina Loceniece, and Zhaneia Thybulle finished in double-figures, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively. 
  • Junior guard and Newark, NJ native Drayah Heyward recorded a career-high seven steals against the Scarlet Knights while adding eight points. 
  • Seton Hall earned their first Big East win of the season Sunday, defeating Marquette, 69-57. 
  • Lauren Park-Lane led the way for Seton Hall with 25 points (6 of 8 3PT) and eight assists while Andra Espinoza-Hunter added 16 points.
  • Sidney Cooks chipped in 12 points on 6 of 12 shooting. 

 
WAGNER ATHLETICS SPECTATOR POLICY...
  • In accordance with New York State and New York City guidelines the Wagner College Athletic Department has announced the following spectator policy for all indoor athletic competitions:
  • All guests will be required to wear masks
  • All guests over 11 years old must show proof of vaccination 
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult
  • Physical tickets must be picked up on game day (can still be purchased and reserved in advance)

SERIES BREAKDOWN AGAINST SETON HALL...
  • Tuesday's contest with the Pirates marks the 12th all-time meeting between the two schools with Seton Hall holding a 9-2 edge in the head-to-head series. 
  • This series began back on February 23, 1976, in which the Pirates defeated Wagner, 40-39. 
  • The Green & White evened up the series at 1-1 with a 87-80 on Staten Island back on February 12, 1977. 
  • Wagner is looking for their first win over Seton Hall since January 20, 1986, when the Seahawks earned a 77-69 triumph on the road. 
SEAHAWKS AGAINST THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE...
  • All-time, Wagner is 4-29 against the current members of the Big East Conference.
  • The Green & White earned a statement home victory over St. John's, 62-59, back on December 12 at the Spiro Sports Center. 
  • The Seahawks have faced only six members of the conference: Butler (0-1); Marquette (0-1), Providence (0-2); St. John's (2-15), Seton Hall (2-9) and Xavier (0-1). 
DEFENSIVE LOCKDOWN...
  • Through December 18, Wagner is one of the top defensive teams in the Northeast Conference (NEC) as well as the nation. 
  • The Seahawks rank first in the league in field-goal percentage defense (37.5%), scoring defense (57.0 ppg), scoring margin (4.0), steals per game (9.2 spg), three-point field goal percentage defense (21.7%), and turnovers forced (20.78). 
  • Among all teams in the NCAA, Wagner ranks eighth in the country in three-point field goal percentage defense. 
  • Wagner is 52nd in the nation in turnovers forced as head coach Terrell Coburn's team has forced 15 or more turnovers in every game thus far and has forced 20 or more turnovers in four games this season. 
FROM A-TO-Z... 
  • Senior point Zhaneia Thybulle continues to shine on Grymes Hill. The Elmont, NY native leads the circuit in assists (50) and assists per game (5.6 apg) as is second in minutes played, averaging 34.8 a contest. 
  • Among all players, the veteran point guard ranks among the top-25 in the nation in assists per game and top-50 in total assists.
SIX-GAME WIN STREAK (LOOKBACK)...
  • The Seahawks saw their season-high six-game win streak snapped on Saturday at Rutgers. 
  • This was the team's longest win streak since rattling off six straight from January 14, 2021, through February 5, 2021, en route to a No. 2 seed in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament. 
  • During the streak, the Seahawks outscored their by nearly 9.0 points per game (62.8 to 54.2) while converting on 45.0 percent from the floor and 37.9 percent from three-point range.
  • Their opponents, however, were limited to just 36.3 percent from the field and 20.9 percent (27 of 129) from long distance.
  • Emilija Krista Grava led the way for the Seahawks, averaging 16.3 points and 5.0 rebounds. 
  • Kem Nwabudu chipped in 10.7 points per game on 53.7 percent shooting from the field. 
  • Alex Cowan and Zhaneia Thybulle each added 8.8 points with Thybulle dishing out 6.2 helpers throughout the win streak. 
E-1K-G...
  • Senior forward Emilija Krista Grava became the 25th member of the 1,000 point club on November 28 against New Hampshire.
  • Krista Grava, who recorded the milestone feat with 59.2 seconds showing on the clock in the second quarter, finished the game with 11 points while also grabbing five rebounds.

  • The Pirates evened up their record to 5-5 on the season after picking up their first Big East win Sunday over Marquette.
  • Three players are scoring in double-figures, led by Lauren Park-Lane, who is netting 19.1 ppg. She had 25 against the Golden Eagles on Sunday.
  • Andra Espinoza-Hunter and Sidney Cooks have added 17.1 and 14.0 ppg, respectively. 
  • As a whole, Seton Hall is scoring 68.3 ppg on 40.9 percent shooting from the floor and 33.5 percent from long range.
