Staten Island, NY  –  The second half of the Northeast Conference (NEC) season commences on Saturday afternoon as the Wagner women's basketball team welcomes the Saint Francis U Red Flash to the Spiro Sports Center.


Wagner All-Time vs. Saint Francis U: 
  • All-time, Wagner trails Saint Francis U 49-22 in the all-time head-to-head series.
  • On Staten Island, the Seahawks are just 13-20 against the Red Flash. 


Last Time Out For Wagner: 
  • With 29 seconds left in regulation, freshman guard Alex Cowan hit a baseline jumper that put Wagner ahead of Fairleigh Dickinson, 61-60, but, following a timeout, Rachael Niles rattled home a floater that turned out to be the game-winner as the Seahawks fell to the Knights, 62-61, last Monday at the Spiro Sports Center. 
  • Sophomore forward Emilija Krista Grava, the reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Co-Player of the Week, finished with a game-best 24 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor (11 of 22) while coming one rebound shy of a double-double, grabbing a team-best nine caroms in 38 minutes of action.  The Ligatne, Latvia native filled the stat sheet, concluding the contest with a career-high five assists while swiping a team-best two steals and adding a block.
  • Cowan also reached double digits, finishing with 11 points in 34 minutes of action. 
  • Aniya Bell led three Knights in double digits, scoring 14 points off-the-bench while Maria Roters notched a double-double, finishing with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
  • Lauren Francillon added 12 in 29 minutes of play while dishing out a team-best four helpers. 

About The Saint Francis U Red Flash:
  • Saint Francis U, who is looking for the season sweep of the Seahawks, enters play this afternoon with a 10-12 overall record and is 8-3 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play. 
  • The Red Flash currently sits in third-place, behind defending champions Robert Morris (10-0 NEC) and Mount St. Mary's (7-2 NEC). 
  • SFU has won three of its last four games, which include back-to-back victories, most recently, at home against Central Connecticut, 72-68. 
  • Karson Swogger and Haley Thomas are both pouring in double-figure, with Swogger netting close to 12.0 ppg, which ranks tenth in the circuit. 
  • Thomas has added 11.0 ppg while shooting 41.6 percent from the floor and 33.8 percent from three-point range in 30.1 minutes a contest. She is also the team's leading rebounder at 6.1 a contest while Phee Allen is the team's leader at nearly 3.0 helpers a game. 
  • Collectively, the Red Flash are second in the conference in free-throw shooting, converting at 74.0 percent and rank third in field-goal percentage, converting on close to 40.0 percent. 


Last Time Against The Red Flash: 
  • Following Wagner's last timeout, and down 51-50 after a pair of Red Flash free throws, the Seahawks had a good look at the hoop but the ball rimmed out and a scrum ensued with Saint Francis U coming away with the loose ball as time expired as the Wagner women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker, 51-50, at DeGol Arena back on January 11. 
  • Redshirt senior guard Janelle Mullen was the lone Seahawk in double-figures, finishing the contest with 11 points. Classmate Jordan Hobson added nine points. 
  • Junior Alayshia Dailey, who finished with six points, pulled down a team-leading nine rebounds while dishing out a game-high five assists in 29 minutes of action. Khaleah Edwards, who drove the lane on the Seahawks' final possession, ended the game with seven points and five rebounds.
  • Haley Thomas and Karson Swogger led the way for the Red Flash with 11 points apiece with Thomas recording double-double, grabbing ten rebounds in the win. Jenna Mastellone chipped in 10 points off-the-bench for SFU.


Home Sweet Home: 
  • Wagner has posted a 6-3 record at the Spiro Sports Center this season and 2-2 in conference games at home. 
  • The Seahawks are averaging 67.4 ppg at home this season, shooting the ball at a 39.9 percent clip from the field while hitting on 35.2 percent from the outside. 
  • The Green & White are outscoring their opponents 607-599 at home this year. 
  • The Green & White holds 335-330 edge on the boards while outmuscling their opponents, 123-107, on the offensive glass.
  • Sophomore Emilija Krista Grava and junior Khaleah Edwards led the Seahawk offense inside the Spiro Sports Center, with Krista Grava pouring in 19.5 ppg in eight home games while Edwards is next at 13.1 a contest.
  • Krista Grava currently leads the team on the boards, pulling down 7.4 rpg while Edwards is next at 6.4 rpg. 
  • Edwards has made 21 threes at home this season, converting at 43.8 percent clip.  
  • Freshman Alex Cowan who has added 9.4 ppg in 33.6 minutes per game, has dished out 37 helpers, averaging 4.1 throughout the home slate. 


Over The Last Five Games:
  • Wagner is 3-2 in its last five games, outscoring their opponents, 63.8 to 60.0.
  • The Green & White are hitting at a 40.6 percent clip from the field over the last five games while draining 35.9 percent from three-point range and shooting a blistering 84.9 percent from the free-throw line (62 of 73). 
  • The Seahawks are holding opponents to just 22.6 percent shooting from the outside during this span. 
  • Wagner is dishing out nearly 16.0 assists per contest over its last five matches. 
  • Sophomore forward Emilija Krista Grava continues her stellar sophomore campaign, averaging 20.0 ppg to go along with 7.2 rpg while shooting 54.2 percent from the floor and is 20 of 21 from the charity stripe (95.2%). 

Saturdays On The Hill:
  • The Green & White are 3-5 in Saturday contests. 
  • Three Seahawks are scoring in double-figures, led by Krista Grava, who is averaging 14.4 ppg while shooting 51.3 percent from the floor and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line. 
  • Junior Khaleah Edwards is next, pouring in 11.1 ppg while grabbing 4.7 rpg in 32.6 minutes of action.  
  • Freshman Alex Cowan is averaging 10.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.3 apg in 32.6 mpg. 
  • As a whole, Wagner is tallying 62.1 ppg on Saturday, while hitting on 37.5 percent of its shots from the field while converting at a 79.2 percent clip at the charity stripe. 
  • The Seahawks have forced 20.9 turnovers on Saturdays and have averaged 14.5 apg during these games.

  • Wagner ranks 61st in the entire NCAA in Turnovers Forced, averaging 18.9 a contest.
  • The Seahawks are 88th in the nation in Free-Throw Percentage, converting at 72.4 percent clip. 
  • The Green & White are also among top-100 in Assists (14.2 apg), which paces the Northeast Conference (NEC) while averaging 6.9 made three-point field goals a game.     
  • Sophomore Emilija Krista Grava led Wagner in points (24), rebounds (9), assists (5), steals (2) and blocks (1) on Monday at home against Fairleigh Dickinson. She is the first Seahawk to accomplish that feat since former Seahawk standout, Sierra Clark, who led the team in all five categories back on November 26, 2017, when Clark scored 21 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out two assists, recorded seven steals and had five blocks at Stony Brook. 
  • Junior Khaleah Edwards went over the 600 career point threshold against Fairleigh Dickinson while also going over the 300 career rebound total as she now stands with 305 after corralling seven against the Knights on Monday evening. 
  • Wagner is 4-2 this season when holding a lead at halftime.
  • The Seahawks are 5-1 when outrebounding the opposition.

  • The Seahawks close out its three-game homestand on Monday, February 10 as they will host the defending NEC Champions, Robert Morris, at 7:00 p.m.
