Game Notes Wagner

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team will be looking for its third straight win, when the Seahawks travel to St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon at 4 pm.

Last Time Out
Down to just seven players on the night, the Wagner College men's basketball team overcame an 11-point first half deficit to earn a gritty 68-56 victory over Central Connecticut on Friday night at the Spiro Sports Center. The Seahawks were powered by junior Elijah Ford's 18 points, while junior Alex Morales added 17 and sophomore Tyrone Nesby IV chipped in 15.

Playoff Push
Still two games out of a playoff spot with three games remaining, Wagner trails Fairleigh Dickinson, Mount St. Mary's, St. Francis Brooklyn, and Bryant, who are all tied ahead of the Green and White at 6-9 in NEC play. Wagner owns the tiebreaker over Mount St. Mary's after sweeping the season series over the Mountaineers and still plays the Terriers and Bulldogs. The Seahawks do not own tiebreakers over FDU and Bryant.

Nesby Coming on Strong
Tyrone Nesby's 15 points on Friday night marked his third double digit game in the last four games. The sophomore continues to become more efficient, making four shots from distance on Friday. Nesby is now 8-14 from distance over his last two outings.

Sharing The Basketball
Wagner is the only team in the NEC to have three players in the top 14 in assists per game. Coming into the weekend, junior Alex Morales checked in eighth in the league at 3.29 helpers per contest, while junior Chase Freeman sat in 10th with 3.18 assists per game. Junior Will Martinez was 14th at 2.88 assists per contest.

Floor General
Chase Freeman continues to show tremendous efficiency as the Seahawks' point guard. The junior leads the Northeast Conference with an assist/turnover ratio of 2.59. On average, Freeman only turns the ball over 1.2 times a game, the lowest number among the top-13 players in the league in assist/turnover ratio.

Scouting The Terriers
St. Francis Brooklyn is 12-15 overall and 6-9 in NEC play this season, losing to Bryant 73-60 on Friday night. The Terriers earned a 69-64 win over the Seahawks in the first meeting of the regular season and are 9-4 on their home court this season.

Next Up
Following Sunday's game, the Seahawks will travel to LIU on Thursday night, with tip-off set for 7:00 PM.
