North Andover, MA – The Wagner College men's basketball team out-rebounded Merrimack 32-22 and battled the Warriors for 40 minutes before falling 68-59 on Saturday afternoon at Hammel Court.

Curtis Cobb III led the way once again with 26 points, his sixth 20-point game of the season. Cobb connected on 10-17 from the field, while going 4-7 from long range. Junior
Alex Morales joined Cobb in double figures with 12 points, while also pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds for his second double-double this year.
With the loss, Wagner falls to 5-19 on the season and 2-11 in conference play, while the league-leading Warriors improve to 18-9 overall and 12-2 in Northeast Conference (NEC) action.
Both teams went back and forth early on, as the first half featured nine lead changes and three ties. Eight straight Wagner points by Cobb gave the Seahawks a 22-21 advantage with 11:38 to play in the first half, and a bucket by Morales one minute later gave the Seahawks their final lead of the contest at 24-22.
Trailing 41-36 at the midway point, Wagner fought back and a layup by Morales made it 55-50 with 8:02 to play, but the Warriors pulled away late to earn the victory.
As a team, Wagner shot 46% on 23-50 on the afternoon and held a 22-20 advantage in points in the paint.
Mikey Watkins led three Warriors in double figures with 17 points, as Merrimack shot 50% (24-48) from the field on the day.
Limited to just eight players due to injury, Cobb and Morales played the entire 40 minutes of the contest.
Wagner will next be in action on Tuesday, when the Seahawks host Mount St. Mary's at the Spiro Sports Center, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm.
