Smithfield, RI – In a key midseason road matchup, the Wagner College men's basketball team will make the trip to Smithfield, RI to take on Bryant on Thursday night at 7 pm.
 
Last Time Out
Five Seahawks scored in double figures to lead the Wagner College basketball team to a 72-64 victory over LIU on Monday afternoon. Graduate student Curtis Cobb III led the Seahawks with 19 points, including 6-10 shooting from long range. A traditional "Wagner win", head coach Bashir Mason's team outrebounded its opponent 36-24, as Szpir led the way with nine boards, while Morales and Ford hauled in eight rebounds apiece. The Seahawk defense held the Sharks to 43.8% shooting from the field throughout the game.  
Dynamic Duo
Cobb and junior Alex Morales continue to pace Wagner offensively and are among the top scorers in the Northeast Conference (NEC). Cobb enters the week fourth in the league with 17.3 points per game, while Morales is tenth in the NEC with 14.5 points per game.   
Calm At The Line
In a tight Northeast Conference matchup, free throws can make the difference. The Seahawks have three players in the top-15 in free throw percentage, as Cobb is second in the league at 83.3%, while junior Elijah Ford checks in at 10th in the league at 75.7% and Morales sitting in 15th in the league at 71.6%. Wagner and Sacred Heart are the only two teams in the league with three players in the top-15 in that category.
 
The Series
Thursday's matchup vs. Bryant marks the 19th all-time meeting between the schools with Wagner holding an 11-7 edge in the head-to-head series. The Green & White, who are 3-3 in their last six meetings swept both matchups two years ago, before dropping both games last year.
 
Scouting The Bulldogs
Bryant enters the matchup with a 9-9 overall record and 1-4 conference mark. After a victory over Saint Francis U in their NEC opener, the Bulldogs have lost four straight, most recently dropping a 74-60 decision against LIU last Saturday.

Wagner head coach Bashir Mason and his staff were be seen on the sidelines wearing sneakers to support Coaches vs. Cancer on Monday and will continue supporting the cause this week. Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers Week is a nationwide event that unites basketball coaches across the country for a common cause – saving lives from cancer. Coaches and their staff across the nation wear sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness, helping to save lives by raising funds and encouraging people to educate themselves about cancer prevention, screening, and early detection.2019-2020 Coaches vs. Cancer Suits And Sneakers games will support childhood cancer research, services, and awareness, as well as promote cancer prevention efforts targeting children.  
Next up For Wagner
The Seahawks will travel to Central Connecticut on Saturday for their fourth game in seven days, with tip-off between the Seahawks and Blue Devils scheduled for 3:30 pm.
